Music

Lindy Hop was born to the sounds of Chick Webb and was raised by the beat of Count Basie, it’s still best when danced to Swing music, but one of the unique aspects of being a 21st century swing dancer is having 80 years of music to pick from – this means you won’t only hear big band tunes at our social nights, you’ll also hear Jump Jive, Gypsy Jazz, and New Orlean’s style Trad Jazz!

Here’s a tiny selection of the tunes our volunteer DJs play:

Chick Webb – Stompin’ at the Savoy

Count Basie – Shiny Stockings

Benny Goodman (with Peggy Lee) Why Don’t You Do Right?

Slim and Slam – Jump Session

Sidney Bechet- Blues my Naughty Sweetie Gave to me

Rhythm Junkies – Blue Skies

Preservation Hall Jazz Band – Choko Mo Feel No Hey

Amos Milburn – One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer
