Well, that was fun! 45 female Lindy Hoppers and a couple of stray males squished into the beautiful wood paneled Brian Clarke Lounge at Freemason’s Hall and watched a vintage hair demo by the lovely Kay McGregor of Hairball Alley.
We didn’t have enough chairs nor hairstyling booklet handouts, but we did have plenty of cake, hairspray and weird and wonderful questions for Kay.
A few jammy ladies were lucky enough to squeeze in a quick ‘do with Kay and even managed to keep our hair looking nice despite it possiblly being the sweatiest night of dancing Freemason’s Hall has ever seen!
Hopefully we’ll have another vintage hair event in the not-too-distant future, perhaps as part of MCRLX!
Those that missed out on the booklet handout can view it here.
The Improvers class on Tuesday 3rd July will be taught by a very special guest, Taina Kortelainan! It’s a real treat to have an International teacher based in Manchester and Taina has taught all over the world, including several years at the worlds biggest and bestest swing camp, the almighty Herrang!
So pop along on Tuesday night to get a taste of Taina’s fabulous teaching techniques and wide repertoire and remember, if you can’t get enough in our taster classes, Taina teaches in depth workshops and private lessons, check out her website for details:
On Tuesday 17th July we’ll be treating our Improver level ladies to something special, a half hour lesson on vintage hair styling led by the wonderful Kay McGregor of Hairball Alley! This will run in a separate area while the Beginners class takes place on the main dance floor.
We won”t be charging any extra, but if you enjoy the class, we’ll collect voluntary donations on the night. You’ll even get a handout to take home (and we may manage some cake too).
Kay will also be available for hairstyling and tips throughout the night, so if you fancy a custom vintage ‘do, it’ll set you back £10.
